Axis Bank lends between ₹50,000 and ₹40 lakh for terms of six months to six years, and prices the loan from 9.99% p.a. for salaried applicants who already hold an Axis account. The bank runs a pre-qualified journey for those customers: the offer is computed from the salary credits it can already see, so a decision lands in roughly thirty seconds and the paperwork is limited to a signature.

Applicants new to the bank go through a full assessment instead and need a net monthly income of at least ₹25,000, against ₹15,000 for existing customers. Disbursal typically takes three to five working days once the file is complete.

Year-by-year breakdown

Early instalments are mostly interest. The principal only starts falling quickly in the closing years, which is why prepaying early saves so much more than prepaying late.

Features

Why people pick Axis

Pre-qualified in seconds

Axis salary-account holders see a sanctioned amount and rate computed from their own credit history, with no documents to upload.

Tenure down to six months

A shorter floor than most banks, which suits a borrower who wants to clear a one-off expense quickly rather than stretch the interest.

Balance transfer at a lower rate

An existing high-rate personal loan elsewhere can be moved across, with the remaining tenure reset to whatever fits the new EMI.

No collateral, no end-use restriction

Unsecured throughout, and Axis does not ask what the money is for beyond a declared purpose on the application.

Fees and charges

What the loan costs beyond the interest

Processing and foreclosure charges routinely outweigh a small difference in rate. Read these against the rate table above.

Processing fee
Up to 2% of the sanctioned amount + GST
Part-prepayment
Permitted after 12 EMIs have been paid
Foreclosure charge
2% - 5% of the principal outstanding
EMI bounce
₹500 + GST per instance
Duplicate statement
₹250 + GST
Loan cancellation
₹1,000 + GST, interest for the used period retained
Eligibility

Who Axis will lend to

Meeting these is what gets the file assessed. Where you land inside the rate band is decided separately, by your bureau record.

  • Net monthly income from ₹15,000 for existing Axis customers, ₹25,000 for others
  • Salaried with a public or private limited company, government body or PSU
  • At least one year of total work experience, with recent salary credited to a bank account
  • A bureau score in the 720s or above materially improves both the rate and the sanction

What tends to weaken a file

  • EMIs on existing loans already consuming more than half of take-home pay
  • More than two unsecured loans running at once
  • Recent settled accounts or write-offs on the bureau report
  • Frequent job changes within the last twelve months

Questions

Axis Bank, answered plainly

Seeing the offer does not. Axis uses its own record of your account for that. A hard bureau enquiry is only raised once you formally submit the application.

Part-prepayment is allowed after twelve EMIs. A full foreclosure carries a charge of 2% to 5% of the principal still outstanding, so the saving is worth checking against the fee first.

It is the ceiling rather than the norm. In practice the sanction lands wherever an EMI capped at roughly half your take-home pay can service, so a ₹40 lakh loan needs an income well into six figures a month.
